Our Commitment to Accuracy
HomeCare UK operates in a Your Money or Your Life (YMYL) sector — the information we publish directly affects the wellbeing of vulnerable people and the decisions of their families. We take this responsibility seriously. This editorial policy sets out the standards we apply to every piece of content on our site.
Editorial Standards
- Factual accuracy — All listing information must be verified against at least one independent source before publication. See our methodology page for full details.
- Impartiality — We do not favour any care home, chain or provider. Rankings are determined algorithmically based on publicly available data.
- Transparency — Where information is self-reported and has not been independently verified, this is clearly indicated.
- Currency — Listings that have not been verified within the past 180 days are flagged for review.
- Completeness — We aim to list every registered care home in the UK. If you know of one not in our directory, please submit it here.
Review Guidelines
All reviews are moderated before publication. Reviews must:
- Be based on genuine, first-hand experience of the care home
- Not contain personal attacks, hate speech or discriminatory language
- Not include personal information of staff or other residents
- Not be written by the care home’s own staff or owners
- Not be submitted in exchange for payment or incentives
Care home managers who believe a review is fraudulent can request its removal via our contact page. All removal requests are reviewed within 5 working days.
Conflict of Interest Policy
- No pay-for-position — Ranking order cannot be purchased.
- Advertising disclosure — Any sponsored content is clearly labelled and visually distinct from organic listings.
- Editorial independence — Advertising relationships have no influence on editorial decisions or rankings.
Corrections Policy
- Report it — Use our contact form, specifying the care home and the information you believe is incorrect.
- We investigate — Our team will verify the claim within 3 working days.
- We correct — Confirmed errors are corrected and the listing is updated.
If you manage a care home, the fastest route is to claim your listing — this gives you direct access to update your information.
Complaints
If you are dissatisfied with how we have handled a correction or review dispute, you may escalate via our contact page with the subject “Editorial Complaint”. We aim to respond within 10 working days.
